Bałuty Ghetto and Holocaust

Your journey continues into one of the darkest chapters of Jewish Łódź. In 1940, the Nazis sealed off the northern part of the city to create the Łódź Ghetto, the second largest ghetto in the occupied Poland.

Walking through the former ghetto, you’ll learn personal stories of resilience, courage, and hope. You’ll see the buildings and cobblestone streets, which lasted from the ghetto time till today. The guide will show you special murals, which commemorate ghetto residents.

The tour includes a visit to the Radegast Station Memorial, one of the most important Holocaust memorials in Poland. It was from this railway station that tens of thousands of Jews from the Łódź Ghetto were deported to the extermination camps of Chełmno and Auschwitz-Birkenau.

The tour finishes at the Survivors’ park, a remarkable place that celebrates continuity and life, while commemorating memory.
